Tree Warden David Appleton

Mid Suffolk LibDem member, David Appleton, is an active member of Suffolk Tree Wardens. Here David is trialling a new type of tree shelter for saplings. This is a Bio-Earth Tree Shelter. It is a FSC certified, biodegradable and waterproof cardboard alternative to plastic tree shelters.

David says "It is estimated that 2,500 tonnes of plastic tree guards are used and not removed when required, every year - leaving a huge plastic waste legacy in our hedges and woodland, seriously damaging their ecological health. It is a problem that urgently needs addressing."
