Help us to get Suffolk back on its Feet
Today Suffolk Liberal Democrats launch this new website in advance of one of the largest sets of elections since 1973. In the face of the continuing pandemic, the need to prioritise the UK and global vaccination programme and with snowy Suffolk in lock-down, the Government has decided to push on with its planned elections on 6th May for Suffolk County Council and the Police & Crime Commissioner.
Democracy cannot be put on hold but the stakes for our country and county are too high for these elections to be marginalised and voter turnout at these elections left subject to; the easing of lock-down and unrestricted freedom to campaign, the confidence of voters fully or partly vaccinated or those still shielding, those signed up for a postal vote or a lack of access to technology and social media.
The Liberal Democrats have a plan for Suffolk and we intend to get our message out to voters across the county and over the next twelve weeks we will use this new website along with social media and other communication channels to ensure that this happens.
The circumstances we face in 2021 as we emerge from a devastating pandemic will require a positive, forward thinking response by our local Councils and a radical re-evaluation of the quality of Suffolk's economy and business sector
Economies have been weakened, connectivity including transport needs to be rebuilt, businesses have been damaged and jobs have been lost. Many families, have suffered from a significant reduction in income and need help with benefits and sometimes from foodbanks. Enforced isolation have impacted upon the physical and mental health and well-being of many and social care is in crisis. Our young people's education has been seriously disrupted and our police and crime resources continue to be underfunded.
Meanwhile we need to cut our carbon footprint as global pressures from climate change mount.
The Liberal Democrats have a plan to help get Suffolk back on its feet - as we battle to get the nations health, economy, education working again we believe that it will deserve your support. So join us..
