Seamus was born and schooled in Felixstowe and after a career in education and international development moved back to the UK with his family in 2008, choosing to settle back in his hometown where his dad had been a GP for nearly 40 years.
Seamus then worked for local charities (Ormiston Families and The Befriending Scheme) and at Felixstowe Academy before setting up a successful swim coaching business in 2016. In 2012 Seamus established Felixstowe Swimscapes, the town's flourishing sea swimming group. Seamus was delighted to be elected to the Town Council in May 2019 and has enjoyed working constructively with all his fellow Councillors, as well as the excellent Town Hall staff. Seamus has been ever-present and active on key committees and working groups, including Climate Change - helping to curb emissions by reducing engine idling especially near our schools, and continuing to push for improved cycling and walking networks and infrastructure.
As he pledged, Seamus was instrumental in regaining coveted Blue Flag beach status for Felixstowe in 2020 and ensuring that this boost for the town will continue in 2021. Seamus' work as a town councillor has already brought real benefits for Felixstowe. If elected to the County council he will be able to bring his positive, practical, people-focused approach to key issues such as transport, social care and education. Electing Seamus to Suffolk County council will, simply, be very good for Felixstowe.
