Join the Big Politics Roadshow

January 17, 2022 11:08 AM
Originally published by East of England Liberal Democrats

A series of free to attend, direct engagement events taking place across the East of England designed to hear what you, our members, have to say.

Each event will be opened via live stream on a giant screen by an independent political commentator. Adam Boulton (until recently Editor at large for Sky News) will open the first roadshow on Thursday 17 February in Bury St Edmunds.

Solutions for a broken democracy

How can and should the Liberal Democrats fight for a better society?

Our democracy is being threatened as never before, the political repercussions are extreme. We cannot sit by and watch this happen. Our aim with these events is to encourage debate and conversation set against this backdrop and to consider from a fresh perspective who we are as a party and what it is that we are seeking to achieve.

Areas such as:

  • The deep underlying issues that have led this country to this point.
  • Is creating a fair society our driving ambition?
  • If so, what core principles of Liberalism must we defend?

These events will enable us to gauge the political temperature and we hope, produce ideas and persuasive arguments for change in approach for our party. The roadshow will culminate in a regional conference in early summer with major speakers and debate.
